§ 2.18. Test & Analytical Center
Chemical compositions of substances and materials are subject to investigation in Gipronickel's Test & Analytical Center (TAC), accredited by ISO/IEC 17025, which relates to the competence of test and calibration laboratories.
The Center deploys a wide range of methods when identifying chemical compositions or performing different types of quantitative analyses - varying from conventional (gravimetry, electrogravimetry, titrimetry, potentiometry and spectrophotometry) through to X-ray and spectral ones. The latter, demanding state-of-the-art equipment, are conducted with the aid of:
1. ICP atomic emission spectrometer 'IRIS Advantage' ('Thermo Elemental').
2. Atomic absorption spectrophotometer 'Solaar 2S' ('Unicam Ltd').
3. Atomic absorption spectrophotometer 'Solaar 6M' ('Unicam Ltd').
4. X-ray fluorescent analyzer 'ED-2000', ('Oxford Instruments').
5. Carbon and sulfur analyzer 'CS-444' (Leco)
6. Carbon and sulfur analyzer 'CS-144DR' (Leco)
7. Spectrographic complex consisting of microphotometer 'G-2' (Carl Zeiss), spectrograph 'óôü' (LOMO) and model generator 'õçü' (Azovsky zavod).
TAC keeps a very special eye on quality management and analysis accuracy, that's much attention is given to production and application of the in-house calibration samples ranging from those of copper-nickel ores to the finished output (nickel, cobalt, copper) from Norilsk Nickel.
