§ 3.1. Mining Engineering
Research Department of Gipronickel Institute incorporates two principal mining subdivisions, that is Mining Laboratory and Laboratory of Raw Material Geological and Technological Studies.
Specialists of Mining Laboratory carry out work relating to substantiation and mastering of brand new mining technologies and equipment, for instance: cut-and-fill and caving development using modern self-propelled equipment; combine excavation of minerals; geotechnological methods of development for poor ore deposits. Most of developments have been being introduced at mining operations of GMK Norilsk Nickel JS, ALROSA Stock Company, etc.
Laboratory of Raw Material Geological and Technological Studies provides with the data on raw materials composition, including minerals balance; carries on studies of contrasting properties of mineral raw materials and develops beneficiation methods for non-ferrous and precious metals based on the results of these studies; works out efficient technologies and beneficiation level indices; makes analysis of processes used at existing operations and improves them; optimises and develops process management algorithms.
The results of these studies and developments have been introduced at mining and metallurgical operations of GMK Norilsk Nickel RJS, at operations in the Ural and other regions.
